Elva is an Amsterdam-based designer who, in addition to accessories, creates clothing for both women and men. She gets her inspiration from her travels and city trips with her partner in crime Camilo.
She enjoys combining various fabrics and materials with a view to sustainability.
The origin of the name Laloba has its roots in the book Women Who Run with the Wolves of Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés. Elva was immediately captivated by the story of Laloba, the wolf woman; Laloba is an old woman who lives in a cave in the desert and collects animal bones, preferably wolf bones. As soon as a wolf skeleton is complete, it brings the animal back to life through song. The wolf leaves her cave and runs into the desert to transform into a smiling woman a little later. The bones represent the indestructible strength that we have within us. She loves the symbolism to bring that power back to life! That is why Elva has chosen the name Laloba.
Anyone familiar with the House of Laloba designs knows that they are all unique. Sometimes very colorful with unicorns and rainbows and sometimes dark with skulls, even a little macabre. Because Elva works alone, she can make her designs as fantasy and drama full as she wants. It gives her great satisfaction to have the freedom to create from a feeling. When she sees the thought and energy behind the piece coming to life on someone through one of her designs; it gives her a WOW feeling. At events of The Gardens of Babylon such as The Seekers of Light during ADE, Wild as the Moon and The Dunes of Babylon, she has a pop-up shop and everyone can fully enjoy that beautiful energy!
